Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh

“A private funicular descends from hillside suites through lush gardens to a vibrant house reef in the Red Sea.”

Our Review

Setting and Arrival

Carved into limestone cliffs between desert and sea, this hillside retreat cascades down to a clear, protected stretch of the Red Sea. The setting feels secluded yet practical: Sharm El Sheikh International Airport sits a short drive away, and arrivals are straightforward, with meet-and-greet options easing the transfer. A private beachfront extends for roughly a kilometre, giving guests generous space to swim, wander, and access the reef-lapped water without crowds.

Design and Atmosphere

The architecture blends traditional Arabian cues—domes, arches, mashrabiya-inspired details—with contemporary comforts. Lush planting softens stone pathways, and more than 3,000 palms frame views toward Tiran Island. The resort’s terraced layout means elevation changes; convenient funicular trams and buggies link hilltop and shoreline, so getting around is easy even in the heat. The overall ambiance balances family-friendly energy with plenty of pockets for quiet—courtyards, shaded lanes, and sea-facing patios.

Accommodation

Guest rooms and suites range from breezy, garden-framed units to expansive residences with private pools. Recent expansions introduced additional inventory and refreshed interiors, offering a choice between modern lines and more classic, regionally accented décor. Many rooms open onto balconies or terraces angled to catch Red Sea light throughout the day, and bathrooms are large, well lit, and fitted for long, beach-meets-desert stays. For celebratory trips, top-tier suites add the privacy of stand-alone layouts and generous outdoor living.

Dining

With a dozen restaurants and lounges, dining spans relaxed toes-in-the-sand meals to polished, dress-up dinners. Reef Grill occupies a prime seafront perch for charcoal-grilled seafood and sunset views. At Il Frantoio, Italian classics—hand-cut ravioli, risotto, slow-cooked meats—are served in an indoor–outdoor setting that suits both cool evenings and starry summer nights. The signature Yatai channels pan-Asian street-food spirit with sushi, teppanyaki and robata counters. For a pre- or post-dinner pause, the Observatory Lounge pours cocktails with sweeping vistas of Tiran Island, an easy finish after a day on the water.

Leisure and the Red Sea

This is a strong choice for marine life: a house reef lies just offshore, reached from resort jetties for effortless snorkelling. An on-site PADI dive centre organizes guided dives—day, night, wrecks—and quick RIB runs to the Straits of Tiran or down to Ras Mohammed National Park. Beyond the reef, guests can charter yachts, kayak, or try stand-up paddleboarding when the sea is calm. On land, four outdoor pools anchor the day’s rhythm, whether you prefer a quiet lap, a family-friendly splash, or a lounger with sea breezes.

Spa, Family and Practicalities

The spa focuses on restorative rituals suited to the dry climate (think mineral-rich treatments and after-sun care), with couples’ spaces for unhurried sessions. Active travellers will find tennis courts, a squash court and a well-equipped fitness centre. Families benefit from a robust kids’ programme for ages 4–12, while teens have their own hangouts. Practical notes: the terrain is stepped but well managed by trams and buggies; shade is abundant; and the airport transfer is brief enough to make long weekends viable. Overall, the resort excels as a high-comfort base for reef exploration, multi-generational holidays and sun-seeking escapes on the Sinai coast.
